The Mableton City Council voted 6-1 to establish a dedicated 4.5-mill Public Safety Special Service District — a legally restricted funding stream projected to generate roughly $21 million a year, exclusively for law enforcement, emergency management, code enforcement, and public safety technology. By law, none of it can be diverted to general city spending. Mableton is now the largest city in Cobb County, and this is what infrastructure maturity looks like: a ring-fenced, transparent safety budget rather than year-to-year negotiation. For our commercial and mixed-use work — including the Mableton Shopping Center — accountable public safety infrastructure is exactly the fundamental that health, wellness, and medical tenants weigh before signing a lease. Near-term cost is roughly $630/year on a $350K home, with exemptions for seniors and disabled veterans.
